The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. For years, I've watched this sale come and go, curious and envious of those with the coveted Nordstrom credit card or Nordy Club rewards status who got to preview and shop the sale early. I longed to be one of those shoppers who could go behind the marked areas of the sale in the store and peruse the fall releases on big discounts.
Every year, bloggers from all over cover this event like it's Christmas and now I'm so excited to be one of them. For anyone unfamiliar with this sale, Nordstrom releases pieces from name brands like Topshop, Madewell, Tory Burch, Sam Edelman and more (plus home and beauty) in anticipation of the fall season, but at sale prices. Shoppers only have a certain amount of time to shop the sale with this pricing before everything goes back up to full retail cost. There are various times throughout the sale that shoppers with certain types of Nordstrom reward status can shop - obviously, the higher the status level of their program, the earlier you can shop and not risk pieces being sold out.
Last year, I took the plunge and opened a Nordstrom credit card. One of the benefits of having the card, is, you guessed it, shopping the sale early. Disclaimer, I do not recommending getting a credit card if you have debt or are not in a good financial position to afford it. You have to decide what's best for your individual situation. I decided to get one and promised myself that I would pay off the balance every month when I used it. Plus the perks are handy for shopping at Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, two places I frequent (or at least online given the current circumstances).
OK. Now that the basics are covered, let's get down to business. I've closed myself in a room for 12 hours and warned my husband not to interrupt me (kidding). I've perused thousands of products. I've reviewed, price compared and narrowed it down to my top picks. Drumroll please....

Final thoughts
It's very easy to get caught up in the good deals, and to spend more than you anticipated. My approach is to set a budget and only get the things I think I will really need or get a lot of wear out of. I typically only get pieces that I know can double for work and for fun and home. This is a good time to get some of the basics too - cardigans, camis, etc.
After looking through my picks, I noticed I didn't include any shoes. Tbh, I didn't see any that blew me away. Always on the lookout for booties, boots and pumps, but will look elsewhere this year.
Anything specific you're shopping for?
The suggestion and and rewards of shopping at a Nordstroms offers often available quality items. Cudos that you are able to be a part of the ‘club’.
