out of a cooking rut

I will be the first to say that in normal times, my husband does the majority of the cooking. I usually get home from my day job after him, so he makes dinner most nights. I greatly appreciate this, especially now, since we’ve swapped roles and I've been working from home indefinitely. I cook - a lot - and at times, get stuck in a cooking rut. I’ve gotten into a pretty good routine of planning out dinners for the week on Sunday, but what really helps, is Home Chef.

We’ve tried Blue Apron and HelloFresh, and both are good. Home Chef is better. We started receiving a weekly box in February and once quarantine began, I kept the subscription going. Between not feeling comfortable going to the grocery store during this pandemic and wanting to be more creative with my cooking, Home Chef has been a life saver. Every week, I choose two meals from a great variety of options ( you can choose from 2 - 8 meals and 2, 4 or 6 servings per meal). Some meals take less time to prepare than others and some are even oven-ready (they provide you with a cooking pan too). You can also purchase ‘protein packs’ - several pieces of poultry, beef and pork that you can prepare your own way.

Every delivery comes packaged with plenty of ice packs so the perishables are kept fresh. Each ingredient is individually wrapped and already measured to the proportion you need for your recipe. The only ingredients you may need are olive oil, salt and pepper or water. Each recipe comes with a card for cooking instructions and you can choose your meals based on the amount of cooking time involved. The other thing is, after weeks of meals, we’ve only had one repeat! Seriously, a life saver, a time saver and the meals are crowd pleasers too! If you want to try it out, I have a code that will give you a discount on your first box.
